5th APMEC '08 was last thursday to sunday (24/1 - 27/1) and being selected as an event facilitator sure rocks! Got the job through my neighbour/schmate Liyi (thx!).. Good thing was that I was working around SRJCians (and an MJCian and SAJCian.. LOL)
22/1:
Woke up late 'coz I spent the previous night watching 1408 on DVD with my bros (who ironically happen to be working earlier than me)
Got to Harbourfront to take the 8.15 bus no. 97 to NUS MD11. The bus did came but it was full.. That's when I noticed got this girl like wanna talk to me and it turns out to be none other than wei shan from SRJC.. Lol.. (Coz the next 97 came 45 min later and it's kinda ez to spot who's going to take the 97)
First day was just briefing on the event itself (which kinda reminded me of bio lectures) and packing of gift bags for the delegates.
24/1:
First day as route marshaling with alwyn (old sec sch classmate) and shaun (nus undergrad from arts and social science)
Pretty much dull standing around work, directing "lost" doctors and professors to the correct building.
The fun came when the caterer arrived with our meals.. (seriously, with 4 meals a day: breakfast, morning tea, lunch, tea; I'd nvr get tired of that job)
25/1:
2nd day of route marshaling and the hot sweltering heat didn't help. But the relaxed environment of the job meant that we had to come up with games to "maximize" our time.
Ended up talking about college, playing the SR box game (which shall only be remembered in the 19th batch.. since TTF banned it.. )
26/1:
Big day! Opening Ceremony for the main conference at NUS' University Cultural Center (UCC)
Basically we had to dress up nice nice, behave properly, bla bla bla.. etc.
Which was only true until lunch (which was after the opening ceremony).
After that I basically had no duties, so went to the museum, took some pics of the South Asian Arts on display.. TMK, I prefer classical art to modern contemporary.. which I find weird for my taste...
Dear readers, do check it out whenever you're free, entry is free! and check the guest book for 27/1/08.. Lol
Other than that, I did see (and talk to) delegates from all over the world; Iran, Norway, USA, etc.
And since most of the delegates opted out for the Conference Dinner at The Legends in Fort Canning, my colleagues and I were invited.
Was separated from the rest coz I had to sit in the halal foods table with a couple of Indonesian delegates. Luckily for me xing yi chose to acc. me (plus she talked abit in malay too.. Lol, kudos for that!)
After dinner I went to watch Cloverfield with the girls and alwyn. For the movie, just one word: Nice!
It was one of those survivalist films and the cinematography really puts you on edge and into the footsteps of the characters.. On the way home I was still kinda edgy that something will pop out of the corner to take my life away LoL..
27/1:
Last day and of the main "gang", only Alwyn and I was left (coz the receptionists weren't needed on the last day of the conference).
It was a dull day coz they weren't much around for me to do so I ended up reading Wan Qi's notes on Law. She's a law student at SIM i think...
And I learnt from her that getting straight D's isn't the end of the world, it's just when you get a U on your cert then you'll feel bad..
The day ended kinda sad and mellow, coz being the last of the male helpers, alwyn and I had to clear up the UCC, to the extent that it felt as if the last 4 days never happened..
Anyways, here's some of the pix I took from my time at NUS med sch:
View of gazebo between MD5 and MD 3A sculpture by local artist named "when steel meets concrete".. I leave it to you, my readers, to think what it TRULY represents"Another locally made artpiece aptly named "Hunger", now I can see how ppl can wear skinny jeanscan't remember the name of this piece, it was some bird-man-warrior or smth.. Looks kinda cool, will definately use it as my dp some dayAgain I couldn't remember the name of this piece.. Plus it looks far better as my phone cam won't bring it justice.. Lunch, as was served on Saturday.. This was just a FRACTION of the buffet, shown here are salmon nuggets, 2 varieties of pizzas, seaweed chicken, and kueh lapis.. Btw, staff gets first dibs on all the foods! =D

First day of pre-event conference at NUS.
It's the 5th Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference 2008 and I'm the route marshal to guide lost
sheeps doctors to the campus' Centre of Life Sciences.
For doctors, I find the ang moh's being the most cheery ones and ours as being kinda on the dull side... As in REALLY dull
My favourite was the doctor from India who commented me and the other 2 route marshals as "orange signposts"..
It's coz we were made to wear orange polo tees for work and also coz a road marshal's job only involves me standing at a predetermined location and indicating the venue each doctors were supposed to go to.
In the midst of the sianness, good stuff still do happens. For one i borrowed my colleague's book (which he was supposed to read as hw) Dance Dance Dance by Haruki Murakami. It had good plot lines and for one, I actually did someone else's homework.. (by mistake)
End up playing the BOX GAME, albeit for a short while.. I miss that old game from old SR.. To think about it, we're the last batch to play it.. Haiz..
Damn, gotta be at work at 7 again tmr.. Gonna check up on my toons b4 I turn in..

Completing my A's ain't what I'd thought it'd be; Life for me now is so dull.
Everyday is basically the same routine, it feels like I'm in army (well with the exception that in the army, you'd have to "suffer".. at least with buddies there)
Life to me after my short stint at Bayshore Park (which I think I'll have to return to next month) has been nothing but WoW, WoW and more WoW.
Damn sian man.
Zs, Ys, TakL, JH, and a bunch of others guys are in army, and I ain't close to alot of my female friends either (cos either they stead adi or just not my type.. yes, I'm shallow.. so are you! lol)
I really gotta start up with some planned timetable for the rest 3 months, buff up maybe, find work or get a license.
It's like going through the paradox of time: When you need it, you'll feel you barely have any, When You don't, You can't help but wasting it..
Right now, I'm really really over those eye-candies, ex-es of mine.. Basically enough to put me off thinking such stuff for awhile...
At least this coming week I got work at NUS Med Sch.. Maybe I can sweet talk some of the profs there to get me in Med Sch...
Hmm...

Been working as a temp at bayshore park for over 2 months now... I'd admit that I'm getting used to the job but am not comfortable with staying here for a long while.. I'm sooo gonna get a better paying job with a much better environment than this..
For one, I'm the only employee here under 20... (to be more precise, under 40..)
I mean the uncles & aunties here are nice la, but just not of my generation.. Kinda hard to communicate my gen stuff to their gen stuff..
Haiz..
It's already been a year since the best orientation organised.. All the plots (and sub-plots), the dramas of my council term are now memories to me.. I almost put on my council tee today omw to work..
Am soooo missing school life..
Maybe I'll drop by and see how this yr's orientation is faring..
1 passion 1 spirit? lolz...
